A NEW PLAY; FROM DEPAUL UNIVERSITY TO HAITI
AND BEYOND.
Director Jacqueline
Stone and Playwright Joni Arredia join forces to bring you “STOOP TIME.” Opening in Chicago at Greenhouse Theater
Center on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 7:30PM.
Chicago,
IL (May 27, 2014) – You&Me Productions will be staging a new play STOOP TIME,
written by Joni Arredia, follows the journey of life-long friends and their
shared experiences from college days at DePaul University to Haiti and beyond.
In this world premiere
drama, Chicago Playwright, Joni Arredia draws on two years of volunteer relief
work in Haiti to bring us this story of perfect strangers, perfect friends. Twenty-two years after being forced to
abandon the love of her life in Haiti, Josephine finally unlocks the truth
about her past in the most unlikely of places.
At the point of losing faith in her search, secrets long buried at last
come to light. Can Jo face the truth
about the love she left behind or will new revelations destroy a perfect
reunion?
“The idea for STOOP TIME started on my front stoop,
said Joni Arredia. “Every person I meet has
their own, heart- warming and heart-wrenching story. We all need to be seen and heard with loving
eyes and ears. That is my gift to perfect strangers, and for that shared moment
on the stoop, they become my perfect friends.
Director, Jacqueline Stone says, “STOOP TIME reminds us that everyone we
meet in life can one day be family. Those we meet along the way have the
power to return, sometimes bringing with them surprising and life affirming
outcomes. This story is a simple reminder of joy, love, hope, and the one
that got away.”
